CARLA TUCKER
Postcards
Any student of art who lives in Australia would be very familiar with the desire to make the pilgrimage to the famous museums & galleries of the world, to stand in front of paintings in real life, ones that they have only known from the pages of books.
Standing in the gift shop, pouring over the postcards, we hope to find the paintings held in such awe in a postcard form. There's always a postcard memento to take away. Sometimes a mental note is made to remember that in real life the painting is warmer/cooler, sharper/softer edged or more detailed. These postcards never see a stamp. The stamp is on the memory to recall what it was actually like to stand in front of the artwork in real life.
This collection of paintings are those postcards placed in still life set ups as an ode to those great masters and as a reminder to those pilgrimages we take.m a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. It's easy.
